Rigoletto opens at New Town Opera House

Rigoletto is set in Mantua, Italy, in the Sixteenth Century, where it all starts at a party. After things go wrong the Count is arrested by the order of the Duke, who seduced his daughter, and he and his hunchbacked court jester, Rigoletto, are cursed by the Count. The fear of the curse and tangled actions of many involved, lead all the characters through this classic opera in three acts.

The New Town Opera is putting on the play, featuring:
Rigoletto: Charles Magnus
Gilda: Wendy Thorns
The Duke of Mantua: Richard Thomas
Maddalena: Elizabeth Curtis
Count Ceprano: Charles Olsen
Several of the lesser parts are being filled by the top of the Central University of New Town musical classes.

The show will run for three weeks (Wed, Fri, Sat) starting on the week of the 14th.
Up to a two week extension is possible if there is demand.
